BECKY’S BIO

Becky began pole vaulting in high school after finishing a successful career in gymnastics.  She advanced quickly in the pole vault, finishing 4th place in the state during her first year, and then winning the state title her senior year – only her second year pole vaulting!

While at Clackamus Community College in Oregon, Becky’s pole vaulting progressed rapidly, increasing her best from 12’3” to 14’4” in only two years.  After such great performances at Clackamus, she had a decision to make.  What college would fit her the best?  After considering many offers, Becky decided to stay in the area and compete for the Ducks at the University of Oregon.

Becky came into the track program during a time of rebuilding, and she was one athlete that contributed greatly to the rise of the Ducks’ program.  While at Oregon, she won the PAC-10 Championships, NCAA Championships, and set an NCAA record!

After her final season at Oregon in 2003, Becky quickly made the jump into the professional world of track and field by finishing 3rd at USA Outdoor Nationals, earning a spot on the World Championship Team in Paris.  Since then, Becky has been a constant name on the national pole vault scene, and continues to improve.  She has recently made a move to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA to train with coach Dan Pfaff, one of the best coaches in the world.  Keep an eye out for some big things to come!
