DARREN’S BIO

Darren is one of the country’s top up and coming pole vaulters.  The 2009 indoor season has been very successful, starting out in his first meet of the year with a win and a PR at the Annual Pole Vault Summit in Reno.  He then went on to a 4th place finish at the Millrose Games, and 3rd place at the Boston Indoor Games.  It looks to be a great year for Darren.

Darren started out pole vaulting for Conant High School, in a suburb of Chicago, where he was an all-state athlete.  After his high school success, he started his collegiate career at the University of Wyoming, but then transferred to the University of Wisconsin, where he became a two-time Big Ten Conference Champion.  Upon graduation, Darren moved to Iowa to train at the University of Northern Iowa for the 2008 Olympic Trials.  Since then, Darren has moved back to the Chicago area to train with the coach who got him started, and looks to keep his recent 2009 success going and lead him to a berth on the 2012 US Olympic Team.
