Education Through Interaction

Ever since I developed an interest in reptiles, one of the things I have enjoyed most is being able to share my interest with others.  I started doing reptile shows more than ten years ago starting with just a few animals and trying to teach others what I had learned.  As time has passed I have learned a lot about these wonderful creatures and the reptile shows give me a chance to share with others who are interested in these amazing animals.
My collection covers a vast array of reptiles which includes, snakes, lizards, and tortoises.  I enjoy teaching about the specialized needs of these animals.  With a hands on approach, I feel that it is easy to make a connection between the ideas that are expressed in books and the real life needs of a living reptile.

In addition to keeping a large collection of reptiles, I have been an active breeder of snakes for more than a decade.  Captive breeding serves several purposes.  I am primarily interested in the science of reproduction, and learning the "tricks" that trigger snakes to breed in captivity.  In addition, captive breeding relieves pressure to collect snakes from the wild, and generally produces a healthier and more suitable animals for others who wish to keep reptiles as pets.

Proper housing, nutrition, and hygiene are the most important aspects of care for these unique creatures.  Learning the proper way to care for reptiles will ensure healthy lives for the animals as well as safety for the individuals who choose to keep them as pets.  Responsibility is also a very important lesson to learn when it comes to reptiles.  What appears as a cute little animal in the pet store aquarium, can turn into a very large animal that may require very large enclosures, as well as very specialized and large meals.

My shows include a large selection of reptiles from small to large.  I take a hands on approach where everyone can get involved and be close to the animals.  I cover all aspects of care from general care in captivity to reproduction, with a special emphasis on the responsibilities of ownership of exotic pets.

Shows start at $125 for classrooms and small groups.  For distances outside Jonesboro, AR, I charge an additional .40 per mile. To figure mileage cost, just go to mapquest.com and type in your city and Jonesboro, AR to calculate the mileage. Shows typically last 1-2 hours. For other events, please inquire for pricing.

My shows are for any group or organization interested in learning more about reptiles.  These include classrooms, scout troops, day care and camps, and church groups.
