JEREMY’S BIO

The first thing most people notice about Jeremy Scott is his height - at 6’9” he is always the tallest vaulter on the field!  During high school, Jeremy was not solely a pole vaulter, but also played football and as you may guess, basketball.  However, football was the sport he loved the most.  Despite being the Nebraska State Champion in the pole vault, he chose Allegheny College to play football, his first love in sports.

However, due to a broken foot during his sophomore year at Allegheny, Jeremy put football aside and focused on pole vaulting.  Although it was a difficult decision to give up football, Jeremy quickly improved in his pole vaulting now that he was able to devote more time to the event.  By his junior year, he improved his best jump to over 18’, which was a NCAA Division III National Record, and he also won his National Championships.  The next year would be even more successful, improving to 18’8” (5.70) and earning a spot on his first World Championship Team!  After graduating from Allegheny with a degree in neuroscience, Jeremy still had eligibility in track and field, so he moved down to University of Arkansas to compete and take some graduate classes.  While at Arkansas, he broke the school record, was an All-American, and competed at the Olympic Trials.

Once Jeremy finished his eligibility, he moved to Jonesboro, AR to train with Earl Bell, a former world record holder in the pole vault.  Since his move, Jeremy has continued to improve and has become a more consistent pole vaulter.  His PR increased to 5.75m (18’10.25”) and he recently finished 6th at the 2008 Olympic Trials.
