KELSIE’S BIO
Kelsie began
her athletic career like many pole vaulters do – as a gymnast.
She competed in gymnastics for many years, qualifying for the
Canadian Championships multiple times. However, she began to
grow too tall for the sport and at the suggestion of a friend,
she decided to try pole vaulting.
During her
freshman year at the University of Saskatchewan, Kelsie improved
rapidly. In fact, she won three national collegiate titles as a
vaulter, breaking the Canadian collegiate record each time.
Since finishing school, Kelsie has continued to improve. She
has competed for Canada at two World University Games, the 2005
World Championships in Helsinki, 2006 Commonwealth Games, and
most recently, the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She has also won
two national titles (2007 and 2008), and last year became the
Canadian Record Holder by jumping her PR at 4.55m. Hopefully,
Kelsie will continue to break more Canadian records in this 2009
season.
